
(1912-1969) - AFLA national epee champion (1938, '51); national foil champion (1946); national three-weapon champion (1939). At the 1946 national championships, he medaled in all three weapons - one of only five fencers in the history of the nationals to accomplish such a feat.
He is generally considered the best three-weapon fencer ever produced in the US. Member, US. Olympic team (1936, '48, '52) and captain (1956). President of the AFLA (1952-56). Vice-president of t he FIE (1960-64). The pre-eminent journalist of the sport in the US. Founder and editor of "Th
